But she had died slowly…

My neighbor died yesterday.  For good.

I was not very close to her mainly because she kept herself locked in her home most of the time.  She had a dog and a cat, too, that lived with her, or for her, not too sure which.

I wonder about people that want to leave earth but do so ever so slowly.  Sometimes it causes me to look at my own life and wonder if I do things out of balance.  People either eat, drink or other things to the extreme excess or not enough to sustain their life on a daily basis.  By the time you are my age, 65, you either have lived a good life or a not so good one-and the body shows for it, most of the time.

I do remember when I paid her a visit not too long ago.  It was during the summer months and I knocked on her door.  She allowed me to come in.  She did not bar me out.  I suppose that was saved only for her estranged family, how sad.  It was not easy seeing her physical state; she was not healthy to say the least.  Multiple problems and medical conditions too difficult to pronounce.  She did not stray far from her lounge chair much at all.  She could not and would not for fear of falling.  I gave her a dozen  fresh brown eggs and a booklet called The Way to Happiness which she politely thanked me for.

My neighbor said one of her favorite things to do was to look at the sun rise every morning.  I guess that’s one reason why I like to take photographs of the rising sun.  I, too, like to look at the new rays of light that come as a blessing out of the east each day.  And when I think of it, I’d rather look at what she did to help me-which was to appreciate life a little more and to be more active-active in helping others.

Each day there is an opportunity to change- to make life better than the day before.  To live life to the fullest.

Message:

Hello beautiful people! How did you like my thoughts above and photo?  I am very delighted to have you in my life to share my thoughts.  And thank you for all the likes I’ve received, too.  I have a lot of friends I’ve made on social media and also some followers, too.  But I would like to get to know you more, although  this platform makes communicating somewhat difficult.

So I have come up with a new game. At the end of each post I will ask you a question and you can reply in the comment below. Like today I want to know where you are from and what you like to do to help others.

Okay. So I would like to begin:

I am from Michigan, USA.  I like to write inspirational messages and illustrate children’s poetry books that my husband, the poet, writes.  Where are you from and what do you like to do to help others? You can leave a comment in the section below…and thank you!  I appreciate you. 🙂

Tips on Turning 65

I’m soon to be 65 years young this next month.  Never felt more alive, aware or grateful, either.  I believe there are certain things you must do to set yourself up for this wonderful time in life:

  • Never quit doing what you love in life.  It took me a long time to really find out what I liked to do in life.  And that was writing and illustrating books for people of all ages.  I don’t have a large volume of books written, but I’ve enjoyed each project and product thus far done.  Keeps me young.  Of course, learning the internet is done in gradients, too.  🙂  And that’s a whole ‘nuther story!
  • Appreciate the lessons learned in life.  No one is born into this world knowing it all.  I’ve had some hard lessons in life, but in the long run, each of those lessons was done by choice or consent, even if done in ignorance.  Try to join a group that helps you learn about life and livingness because there is a technology to living, so to speak.
  • Take responsibility for what you’ve done-the good and not so good.  I realized that life keeps on going and it gets easier when I take responsibility for my part.  That helps me to be more humble and not so hard on myself in the future.  It also helps me to realize that there’s a lot of good to be done in the world and there’s always another opportunity to improve yourself.
  • Love your family. Get to know each one in your family and love them for who they are. I’m a fraternal twin-a close sister that means the world to me with two younger brothers.  My mother is still alive, I’m thankful, and happily married.  I also have a wonderful husband & family that are very supportive of me. Two grown children and three grandchildren now doing well in life. Communicate with your family often.
  • Be Community minded.  Getting out and helping others whether you do so in person or using the internet can bring rewards.  There’s nothing as rewarding as helping others out.  Treat others as you want to be treated, too.
  • Help our planet out.  Economize, reuse and recycle where you can.  It’s a great feeling to know that you are using only what you need to and giving back to the land that has given so generously to us.
  • Develop a Spiritual life.  Work and study to improve yourself-each day. Cultivate good virtues.  Keep abreast of the technologies used in this day and time to help you develop a better and deeper spiritual connection.

These are some of the things that I have found that brings success in my life. I’m sure there’s more- I hope you have questions or comments, too. Don’t forget to check out my books here.   And thanks for stopping by- come again!

Living Christmas Everyday

Since the very first Christmas when Jesus the God-man was born in Bethlehem, it is the perfect moment now to put what we know and feel into action.  Live the Christmas message each day anew.

By our acts of mercy, kindness, and love are we the message.

That is the true meaning of living the Christmas message.  That is the true spirit of Christmas-to Be and Live Christmas each day.  Christmas has already come and gone in one sense of the word.  But if you really ‘get it’ then you’ll be living the spirit of the season each day.
